Mary Guidone is a French Language Lecturer at the University of California, Merced. She completed her MA in French from the University of Illinois at Chicago and her BA with Honors from Central Connecticut State University, where she majored in French and Spanish language and literature. After graduating from UIC, she was offered a full-time position there as a Visiting Lecturer. She has also taught at Coastal Carolina University and Eastern New Mexico University.

Mary's main research interest as an undergrad was film, particularly those from the French New Wave. In graduate school, her focus shifted a bit, and she did her three comprehensive exams on (1) the didactic role of anthropomorphic animals in Medieval literature (2) use of the human body in comedy and (3) the role of writing to conquer silence in exile. She is also, of course, very interested in teaching basic language, especially the use of film for teaching culture as well as fostering spoken language skills.
